Ethical Requirements Definition Process (clause 9) – IEEE 7000

IEEE 7000 9.3(d): Evaluate and adjust the ethical and value-based requirements

The project shall, with stakeholders and the team, assess whether the EVRs and the value-based system requirements are feasible in technical, operational, economic and legal terms; analyse and harmonise them with requirements from non-value sources, identifying competing or supportive requirements; analyse them jointly for the organizational and technical control they give over the system (Annex F for AI systems); and where needed modify them on the basis of the evaluation, risk analysis and design feedback, noting any changes in both the requirements register and the Case for Ethics, guarding against the risks of two separate requirement domains and of functional requirements being prioritised over value-based ones.
