IEC 60601-1 - Medical Electrical Equipment Safety 5.5: Supply voltages, type of current, nature of supply, frequency

What does 5.5 require?

Where results depend on supply characteristics, deviations from rated values are taken into account and the supply values used are those of 4.10.2 or the marked values, whichever is least favourable; a.c. mains parts are tested only with a.c. at rated frequency within 1 Hz up to 100 Hz and 1 percent above, at the least favourable frequency of a rated range; equipment rated for several voltages, for both d.c. and a.c., or for both internal and external power is tested in the least favourable configuration, repeating tests where needed to find it; d.c. mains parts are tested only with d.c. considering polarity; alternative accessories or components are chosen for the least favourable conditions; and equipment intended for a separate power supply is tested connected to it.
