IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Standards Manual DSP 4.5: Operations Beyond 60 Minutes from an En Route Alternate Airport and ETOPS/EDTO

What does DSP 4.5 require?

Operations that take the aircraft more than 60 minutes away from an en route alternate, ETOPS/EDTO included, are approved by the State and planned with procedures covering en route alternates, their suitability and weather minima at dispatch, the maximum diversion time, and, for twins in ETOPS/EDTO, alternates specified on the OFP and ATS plan; a flight may continue past the threshold time only if the alternates identified are still available; and where a cargo compartment fire suppression time limit is published, the Operator should ensure diversion times respect it (DSP 4.5.1 to 4.5.5).
