Where the law requires them, the farm holds valid permits or licences from the competent authority for extracting water, for its water storage structures, for using water on the farm (irrigation, product washing and flotation among others), and for discharging water into rivers or other sensitive environments; the permits are in date at the audit. If a required permit is not yet held, there is evidence that the producer has applied, that approval is being processed, and that no official ban on the source exists.
