FedRAMP Rev 5 G.4: G.4 Threat-based assessment of security postures

Regardless of path, FedRAMP consistently assesses and validates providers' architectures and encryption schemes to verify that control implementations are reasonable and operate as intended, drawing on government and industry expertise, through documentation review and, at any point during or after authorization, expert-led red team assessments performed under the FAR and CISA and program guidance. The baselines are updated and tailored through a threat-based analysis produced with CISA that focuses on controls addressing the most salient threats, including hostile attacks, natural disasters, equipment failures, errors and insider threats, applied also when a provider modifies an authorized service, with summary findings available to agencies in the process.
