Where a digital labour platform uses intermediaries, persons performing platform work through an intermediary must enjoy the same protection under the Directive as those contracting directly with the platform; Member States establish mechanisms for this, including where appropriate joint and several liability. A platform must know every intermediary it contracts with (which Article 17(1)(d) makes it report) and flow the Directive's rights down the chain.
