EU Capital Requirements Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 575/2013) 89-91: Limit qualifying holdings outside the financial sector to 15 % of eligible capital each and 60 % in total

What does 89-91 require?

A qualifying holding in an undertaking that is not a financial sector entity above 15 % of the institution's eligible capital, and total such holdings above 60 % of eligible capital, are either risk-weighted at 1 250 % on the greater excess or prohibited, as the competent authority chooses and publishes; the excess may instead be deducted from Common Equity Tier 1. Holdings acquired temporarily in rescue or financial reconstruction, taken on as underwriting for a short period, or kept on behalf of others are excluded under Article 91.
