ESRS (revised 2026) E2-5: Substances of concern and substances of very high concern

What does E2-5 require?

Chemical sector undertakings (manufacturers, formulators and importers of substances on their own or in mixtures) disclose the total weight of substances of concern and separately of substances of very high concern that they procured, manufactured, placed on the market and directly released to air, water and soil including leaks and spills. Other undertakings that use substances disclose the total weight of substances of very high concern used in production and service delivery and the weight directly released. Manufacturers, importers and users of articles containing substances of very high concern above 0.1 percent by weight under REACH Article 33 disclose the names of those substances in procured components or articles and in components or articles placed on the market. Substances are grouped by CLP hazard class without double counting totals, presented in mass units, and may draw on information already reported under the Industrial Emissions Directive or E-PRTR.
