The generic software is developed through the phases of 7.2 to 7.7 within the lifecycle and documentation regime of 5.3: the phases, their activities, inputs and outputs and the documents produced (Table A.1 rows 6 to 27 and Annex C) are planned in the SQAP and in the verification and validation plans before development starts, the documentation structure of Annex C is followed or an alternative justified, and each phase ends with the verification of its outputs before the next begins; phases may be iterated and, for small systems, documents combined without loss of required detail.
