Access and consumption policies are enforced according to classification metadata and the permissions of users, groups and applications, and entitlements are enforced consistently as data moves across platforms, applications and environments through its lifecycle. Assignment of rights and permissions for access and use is automated on policy, and enforcement is automated from permission metadata derived from the catalog and classification attributes, progressing over time to fully automatic enforcement for all data assets. Enforcement granularity follows the asset type, owner guidance and rights management policy for each entity type (database, schema, table, element); authentication conforms to business and licensing policy; user access controls integrate with entitlement metadata; and discrepancies between applications are monitored.
