Data subjects may obtain suspension of processing while the controller verifies accuracy they contest; where processing is unlawful and they prefer restriction to deletion; where the controller no longer needs the data but they need them for legal claims; and while it is verified whether the controller's legitimate grounds override an objection. If the controller refuses and the data subject appeals to the Authority, suspension lasts until the administrative proceedings end. While accuracy is contested the database must show that the data are disputed, and suspended data may be processed only for legal claims, to protect another person's rights or for important public-interest reasons.
