Clause 5.3: Analysis – ECSS-E-ST-10C System Engineering General Requirements (2009 edition)

ECSS-E-ST-10C System Engineering General Requirements (2009 edition) 5.3.1: Perform mission, functional, physical, performance and cost analyses and document them

What does 5.3.1 require?

In phase 0 the supplier's system engineering function analyses the mission statement and produces and maintains the mission description document for the concept finally selected. It performs a functional analysis yielding the functional architecture and the function tree that satisfy the customer's specification, and a physical analysis yielding the physical architecture and the product tree per ECSS-M-ST-10; it records both architectures in the design definition file and justifies them in the design justification file. It analyses the system's performance end to end, analyses how the mission, design, development, operations and constraints affect cost and schedule as input to project consolidation and design-to-cost, and writes every analysis up in an analysis report to the DRD.
