In drafting the ODD specification the team ought to consider, for example: geographic limits (a radius around a place, marked roads on a map, one airport terminal); interaction limits (whether cyclists, pedestrians, other AVs or driven vehicles are present and what traffic or crowd density can be handled); road features covered (junction types, road works, local speed limits); gradient limits for climbing and descending; ambient temperature, humidity and weather limits (rain, hail, ice, snow and how heavy, light level, fog, low sun, thunderstorms); terrain limits (smooth surfaces only or not); and whether the ODD must cover conditions a human driver would adapt to, such as the same vehicle used in desert or snow, and hence how many ODDs are needed. PAS 1883 was being prepared to cover ODD specification in detail.
