To build on land of low ecological value and protect existing features: one credit where the assessment zone's land qualifies as being of low ecological value using the manual's checklist or an ecological assessment report by a suitably qualified ecologist based on a site survey; and one credit where every existing ecological feature inside the site boundary and assessment zone is properly protected against damage while the site is cleared, prepared and built on, with the principal contractor constructing the protection the ecologist recommends before works start.
