A person does not, without reasonable excuse, enter into a contract of insurance or other arrangement purporting to cover the person or another for all or part of a liability for a monetary penalty under the Act, provide such insurance or indemnity, or take the benefit of it; any such term is void to that extent. An officer of a body corporate involved in the body's contravention also commits an offence (s 272B). Cover for legal defence costs is not a penalty and is outside the prohibition.
