Quality Improvement Standard 2 Clinical indicators – Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition) QI2.1: Event summaries: each patient event summary records known allergies and includes, where relevant, adverse drug reactions, current medicines, current health problems and relevant history as obtained, so the regular GP and any later clinician see what the service knew

What does QI2.1 require?

An after-hours service rarely holds a full health summary, so each event summary must capture what matters. For every encounter the record and the report to the regular practice include the patient's known allergies, or that none are known, in the designated field so that prescribing alerts work, and where relevant the adverse drug reactions, current medicines, current health problems and relevant past history the patient or carer reported, together with what the service found and did. The service audits event summaries for completeness.
