After-hours Services Standard 3 Service facilities and equipment – Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition) AHS3.1: Service facilities: any physical premises are fit for purpose; every consultation takes place in an appropriate consultation or examination space that protects privacy and confidentiality; the waiting area accommodates the usual number of people; accessible toilets and hand-cleaning facilities are available; and the service is visibly clean

What does AHS3.1 require?

Where the service runs a clinic the setting is part of safe care. Facilities suit the services provided, with adequate lighting, ventilation, security and maintenance. Consultations occur in a room or dedicated space where the patient cannot be seen or overheard and can be examined with dignity; for home visits the practitioner arranges the most private space available. The waiting area is large enough for those normally present including mobility aids and prams. Patients have access to an accessible toilet and to hand-cleaning facilities. The premises are visibly clean with a cleaning schedule.
