Australia Poisons Standard (SUSMP)
Part 2 Division 3: containers and closures – Australia Poisons Standard (SUSMP)

Australia Poisons Standard (SUSMP) s50-53: Seal Schedule 8 primary packs so opening is evident, enclose camphor and naphthalene in protective devices, and never use containers marked with another poison, poison-type containers for internal-use products or food, or food-like containers for poisons

What does s50-53 require?

A Schedule 8 poison must be supplied in a primary pack sealed so that a broken seal is readily distinguishable from intact packs, except when supplied by an authorised prescriber or supplier, a pharmacist on prescription or hospital requisition, or a nurse or midwife on written direction. Camphor or naphthalene sold for home use as balls, blocks, discs, pellets or flakes must be enclosed in a device that prevents removal or ingestion, is non-reactive, robust and marked POISON with the approved name. No poison may be supplied in a container embossed or marked with the name of a different poison; containers meeting sections 46 or 47 must not be used for poisons for internal use or for food or drink; and no poison may be supplied in a container not readily distinguishable from a food or drink container.
