Each of the following has to be handled in a way that keeps it inside the facility and stops it being carried out on shoes or clothing: (a) GM plants; (b) GM plant material that is viable; and (c) any plant, or plant part, that contains GM micro-organisms. The note warns that the facility's physical boundaries may not be enough on their own; for instance a flowering GM plant may need every inflorescence fully enclosed, before it flowers, in bags designed to stop viable pollen and seed escaping, or may need to be kept in plant growth cabinets.
