Australia OGTR Guidelines for Certification of a PC2 Invertebrate Facility (Version 3.1) C9: Aerosol-generating work in a cabinet

What does C9 require?

Proposed dealings with GM micro-organisms that would give off aerosols carrying Risk Group 2 GM micro-organisms must be done inside a biological safety cabinet or other aerosol containment equipment the Regulator has specifically approved in writing. The guideline notes that centrifuging or vortexing GM micro-organisms in sealed tubes need not happen in the cabinet, provided the tubes are opened only inside it.
