Australia OGTR Guidelines for Certification of a PC2 Animal Facility (Version 3.2) C17: Labelling animals, cages and containers

What does C17 require?

Every animal, or every cage or container of animals, must be labelled to show the animals are GMOs or contain GMOs. Cages and containers must also be labelled so the animals inside can be identified and their number shown. Large animals need clear marking so they can be readily identified, for example a tattoo, a permanent tag, a microchip or a permanent brand.
