Each participant is supported to understand and make genuine decisions, with accessible information and decision-making support about supports in the home and to access the community. Indicators: accessible information to express will and preferences; dignity of risk supported; informed decisions about mainstream services; supported decision-making policies requiring a reasonable time, identifying when support is needed, asking how the participant wants to be supported, acting on their will and preferences, responding to cultural values and identifying when an authorised decision maker such as a nominee is needed; workers trained and refreshed in supported decision-making.
