Standard 8: Medical devices – Australia National Pathology Standards (First Edition 2027)

Australia National Pathology Standards (First Edition 2027) 8.03: Medical device maintenance: keep a current and complete device inventory, store devices per the manufacturer's instructions, use in-date reagents and consumables per the instructions for use, perform planned maintenance and repair per the instructions using qualified personnel, performance-test devices after maintenance and repair, and maintain each device's maintenance and repair log

What does 8.03 require?

Keeping devices safe and performing well rests on six habits: an inventory that is complete and current; storage as the manufacturer directs; reagents and consumables within date and used as the instructions for use say; planned maintenance and repair by suitably qualified people following those instructions; a performance check after each maintenance or repair; and a maintenance and repair log for every device.
