Australia National Pathology Standards (First Edition 2027) 6.03: Decision-making: at collection centres identify patients who need support to make decisions, give them access to that support and involve supporters and substitute decision-makers in line with the patient's preferences and legislation, and communicate in ways that meet individual needs

What does 6.03 require?

Collection centres are set up to recognise patients who need help with decisions, to give them access to that support so they can make, express and take part in decisions, and to bring in supporters or substitute decision-makers as the patient prefers and the law allows. Communication with every patient is adapted to that person's needs.
