Access must be provided to rainwater service components needing maintenance or replacement and means of isolation to those needing testing, maintenance or replacement; pipes and pipe outlets in the service must be clearly identified; and the likelihood of failure or uncontrolled discharge must be avoided. Deemed-to-Satisfy B6D3 requires pipework and outlet fittings to be marked to AS/NZS 3500.1 and B6D7 requires AS 3959 in designated bushfire prone areas. Victoria adds VIC B6P8: a rainwater service must avoid contaminating its own water, the cold water service or the Network Utility Operator's drinking supply, pose no public health hazard, have no unprotected cross-connection to the drinking supply, and keep a continuous supply for sanitary flushing where a reticulated supply is connected.
