Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals
Chapter 2: preparing, reviewing and amending an SDS – Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals

Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals 2.3: Accept an overseas SDS only if it meets the WHS Regulations; otherwise the importer prepares a compliant Australian SDS after checking every section

What does 2.3 require?

An SDS written by an overseas maker or supplier may be used only where it complies with the WHS Regulations, which it rarely will unless written for Australia (it needs, for example, the Australian importer's contact details). If it does not comply, the importer is responsible for preparing one that does, and should compare every section of the overseas document against the Australian requirements.
