Chapter 6 Role of designers, manufacturers, importers, suppliers and installers, and acoustic shock – Australia Model Code of Practice Managing Noise and Preventing Hearing Loss at Work

Australia Model Code of Practice Managing Noise and Preventing Hearing Loss at Work 6.2-INSTALL: Installers ensure plant and structures are installed, constructed or commissioned without noise risk so far as is reasonably practicable, following the designer's specifications including isolating vibrating sources on separate bases or away from the building structure, and give users information on conditions for safe use including maintenance

What does 6.2-INSTALL require?

Under section 26 of the WHS Act a PCBU that installs, constructs or commissions plant or a structure for use at a workplace must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that it is installed so as to be without risks to health and safety. Installers should install according to the designer's specifications, for example isolating vibrating noise sources by mounting large heavy machines on separate bases or so that they do not directly contact the rest of the building structure, and should give potential users information about the conditions required for safe use, including maintenance requirements.
