An allied health practitioner may refer the patient to another eligible allied health practitioner for assessment only if the original medical referral is still valid, the referring medical practitioner has been consulted and agreed (a call, letter or secure message is enough; no attendance is needed), and the agreement is recorded in the patient notes; the interdisciplinary referral is signed, dated and includes a copy of the original referral.
