Employer notice is set by the NES. Employees (other than those excluded) must give notice by length of service (1 to 4 weeks); for an employee aged 18 or over who gives short notice, the employer may deduct no more than one week's wages, only if it did not agree to shorter notice and the deduction is reasonable. Where the employer gives notice, the employee must be allowed up to one day off without loss of pay to seek work.
