What does gicop-p8-67-71-assessment-timeframes-updates require?

In assessing a claim the insurer asks for and relies on only information relevant to the decision and explains why it is needed. Where a claim needs more information or assessment, the insurer has 10 Business Days from receiving it to tell the customer what is needed (with best endeavours to ask once), to appoint a Loss Assessor or Loss Adjuster if one is needed, and to give its estimate of how long a decision will take and by what process. It weighs all relevant facts, the policy terms and the law; reports progress to the customer every 20 Business Days or sooner; and responds to routine enquiries about progress within 10 Business Days.
