AS9100D - Aerospace Quality Management System 4.3: Determining the scope of the quality management system

What does 4.3 require?

The organization decides the boundaries and applicability of its QMS, taking account of the issues in its context, what interested parties require, and the products and services it provides, and applies every requirement of the standard that is relevant within that scope. The scope is kept as documented information, names the products and services it covers, and gives reasons for any requirement treated as not applicable; such a claim is allowed only where the organization's ability and responsibility to deliver are unaffected in delivering conforming products and services and satisfy customers.
