AS/NZS 4836:2023 Safe Working on or near Low-Voltage and Extra-Low Voltage Electrical Installations and Equipment 3.1.3: 3.1.3 Isolating the electrical equipment from all supplies

The equipment must be isolated from every source of supply by switching off, withdrawing fuses or links, tripping or opening breakers, or disconnecting conductors, and procedures must be in place to find alternative supplies (inverters and UPS, standby generators, solar, neutrals fed back from mixed circuits, ring main arrangements, separate auxiliary control supplies, backfeed from ELV controls, emergency lighting supplies, batteries). Control circuits and systems such as PLCs, emergency stops and selector switches must not be used as the means of isolation. Automatic control devices can re-energize wiring. When removing connections, actives should be disconnected first, then neutrals, with earths last.
