A generating set installation must meet AS/NZS 3000 and the extra requirements of this Standard, and may also have to meet the requirements of the electricity distributor and other regulators, so those bodies are recommended to be consulted before equipment is installed. Section 2 applies to all sets connected to an installation; Section 3 adds requirements for permanently connected sets and Section 4 for sets connected by plug and socket. Appendix A sets the fault current path for fixed wired sets; Appendix B gives guidance (since A1 for Australia and New Zealand) for portable sets supplying tools by plug and socket; Appendix C is a New Zealand dedicated wiring provision; Appendix D sets performance and construction requirements for transportable sets up to 25 kW.
