Hose is serviced yearly, after use and whenever defects are suspected. The routine: lay the hose out, preferably straight on a flat clean surface, and check the jacket for cuts, abrasion, burns or contamination; inspect couplings for damaged or distorted threads, lugs or gaskets; check storage (folds not in the same place each time, on bollards or flaked, or, where staff are trained for it, coiled on a bight with both couplings reachable, tag visible); hydrostatically test the hose by marking the coupling joints, restraining the ends, charging to a nominal 500 kPa while venting air, raising the pressure over 20 s to 2 min to the class maximum working pressure (Class L 1000 kPa, Class M 1400 kPa, Class H 2100 kPa) and holding it at least 3 minutes while checking for defects, leaks and coupling movement; clean dirty hose; and dry wet hose (other than extruded types) before storage, with heated drying kept to 40 degrees C, with airflow and for no more than 12 hours.
The graph holds this control, the 0 it maps to, and the evidence behind each claim, over MCP and REST.
