For N1 and N2, footings for stumps and posts are typed 1 to 5 (types 1 to 4 need at least 100 kPa, type 5 at least 125 kPa), proportioned to spread loads evenly and prevent significant movement; sole plates may not overhang the stump or post by more than their thickness across the grain or three times it along the grain; stump sizes suit the footing type; stump height above ground is at most 15 times its least width unless engineered; embedment is the greater of 0.3 times the height above ground and 450 mm; and both the footing table and the bearer Span Table limits on load width and span must be met. Section 8 bracing must also be satisfied.
