APES 315 Compilation of Financial Information 12: Subsequent discovery of facts

What does 12 require?

When, after completing the engagement, the Member learns of facts that existed at completion and would have led the Member to think the information supplied was false or misleading, the Member assesses the effect on the compiled information, discusses it with the client, takes action appropriate to the circumstances and documents the reasons. Whether revision is needed depends among other things on the time elapsed and on whether important decisions based on the information are still to be made. If revision is needed the Member takes every reasonable step to urge the client to tell everyone who received the information. If the client does not act, the Member notifies those charged with governance, and if they do not act the Member applies the firm's APES 320 continuance policies.
