AMIC Industry Animal Welfare Standard for Livestock Processing Establishments 5.2.1-5.2.2: 5.2.1-5.2.2 Infrastructure and equipment fit for welfare, maintained, and withdrawn when defective

Yards, races, pens and equipment do not hurt or distress animals, allow effective handling, let animals be segregated and aggressive animals removed or managed, allow the environment to be controlled so animals can thermoregulate (shade, ventilation, climate control), and are kept in good repair to a maintenance schedule. Where a defect could harm livestock the animals are removed from the area or the equipment is taken out of use until repaired.
