Ahpra Guidelines for Advertising a Regulated Health Service (December 2020) adv-surgeon: Do not use the title surgeon unless in the permitted medical classes

Section 115A of the National Law, noted on Ahpra's advertising page and not in the December 2020 print, restricts the title surgeon among medical practitioners to those with specialist registration in surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology or ophthalmology (and the other classes the law allows). Every reference to surgeon, including cosmetic surgeon, must be removed from websites, social media, letterheads, cards and clinic windows by medical practitioners outside those classes.
