Waste is disposed of at the point of generation in leakproof, lidded (lockable if needed) containers, stored in a lockable area away from public, care and food preparation areas, moved by routes that avoid clean and food areas and removed regularly by licensed services. As Australia has no national definition of clinical waste, state and territory law governs, and community services follow local requirements.
