Chapter 6: Clean, safe and hygienic environments – Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide (2024)

Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide (2024) e-reprocess: Reprocess reusable equipment according to risk and manufacturer's instructions

Reusable items such as commodes, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, nail clippers, hoists and tablets are cleaned and, where needed, disinfected after each use. Manufacturer's reprocessing instructions are checked before purchase, the level of reprocessing depends on the item and contamination, and equipment that cannot be cleaned is not reused.
