AASB 16 Leases
Lessee presentation and disclosure (paragraphs 47 to 60A, Aus59.1, Aus59.2, B48 to B52) – AASB 16 Leases

AASB 16 Leases 51-58: Disclose in one note the lease expense and balance amounts in a table, short-term commitments where the portfolio has changed, the AASB 140 or AASB 116 information for fair valued or revalued right-of-use assets, and a separate maturity analysis of lease liabilities

What does 51-58 require?

The lessee's disclosures, gathered in a single note or section with cross-references to information presented elsewhere, give users a basis to assess the effect of leases on position, performance and cash flows. In tabular form unless another format fits better, and including amounts capitalised into other assets, the lessee discloses depreciation of right-of-use assets by class, interest on lease liabilities, short-term lease expense (leases of one month or less may be left out), low-value lease expense, variable payment expense outside the liability, sublease income, total cash outflow for leases, additions to right-of-use assets, sale and leaseback gains or losses, and closing right-of-use carrying amounts by class. Short-term commitments are disclosed where the year-end portfolio differs from the one behind the expense. Investment property right-of-use assets follow AASB 140 disclosure instead of several of those items, revalued right-of-use assets carry the AASB 116 paragraph 77 disclosures, and lease liabilities get their own AASB 7 maturity analysis separate from other financial liabilities.
