AASB 16 Leases
Lessee presentation and disclosure (paragraphs 47 to 60A, Aus59.1, Aus59.2, B48 to B52) – AASB 16 Leases

AASB 16 Leases 47-50: Present right-of-use assets and lease liabilities separately or disclose their line items, show interest separately from depreciation, and classify principal payments as financing and interest, short-term, low-value and excluded variable payments by their nature in the cash flow statement

What does 47-50 require?

A lessee presents right-of-use assets and lease liabilities as separate lines or, if it does not, includes right-of-use assets in the line where the underlying assets would sit if owned and discloses which lines contain them and the liabilities; right-of-use assets that are investment property are presented as investment property. Interest on lease liabilities is presented within finance costs, apart from the depreciation charge. In the statement of cash flows the principal portion of payments is a financing activity, the interest portion follows the AASB 107 policy for interest paid, and payments for short-term leases, low-value leases and variable payments outside the liability are operating activities.
