Customs administrations work together so that AEO validations and authorisations, control results and digital certificates granted by one are accepted by another, which requires compatible SAFE-conformant AEO programmes, agreed common standards with action provisions for Customs and AEOs, uniform application, agreed standards for any delegated validators and enabling legislation; economic unions should adopt one set of criteria for when AEO status is granted, suspended, removed or restored, and regional Customs union programmes or plurilateral MRAs are recognised routes.
