Victoria Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 r49: r 49 Establish fall rescue and first aid emergency procedures before the task

Whenever a control under regulation 44(2) to (5) is used (anything other than elimination), the employer must set up emergency procedures before the task begins. As far as reasonably practicable they must allow a fallen employee to be rescued and given first aid, and they must be capable of being carried out straight after a fall. Risks in carrying them out (such as a further fall, electric shock, crushing or MSD) must be eliminated or, if that is not reasonably practicable, reduced as far as reasonably practicable. The employer must ensure the procedures are actually carried out immediately after a fall (s 21).
