Compliance obligation (paragraph (a)(2)(iv)) – US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1)

US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1) a2iv: Written policies and procedures reasonably designed to achieve compliance with Regulation Best Interest

What does a2iv require?

On top of the conflict procedures, the broker-dealer must adopt, keep current and enforce written procedures reasonably built to bring the firm into compliance with the whole regulation. In practice this means controls, training, surveillance and periodic testing that cover the disclosure, care and conflict obligations, with remediation of the gaps found and senior review of the program's effectiveness.
