A person or entity providing an electronic communication service to the public may not intentionally divulge the contents of a communication (other than one addressed to it or its agent) while in transmission on that service to anyone other than an addressee or intended recipient or their agent. Under (3)(b) it may do so as authorized by s. 2511(2)(a) or s. 2517, with the lawful consent of the originator or an addressee or intended recipient, to a person employed or authorized to forward the communication, or to a law enforcement agency where the contents were inadvertently obtained and appear to relate to a crime.
