Paragraph 7.2: Requirements for the vehicle type – UNECE WP.29 R156

UNECE WP.29 R156 7.2.1.2.2: RXSWIN or software versions readable through a standard interface

What does 7.2.1.2.2 require?

Each RXSWIN is easily readable in a standardised way through an electronic communication interface, at least the standard OBD port. Where RXSWINs are not held on the vehicle the manufacturer declares to the authority the software versions of the vehicle or single ECUs with their link to the relevant approvals, updates that declaration whenever the versions change, and makes the versions readable in the same standardised way. The Interpretation Document names ISO 14229 and UN Regulation No. 83 as relevant.
