An information society service provider may store or access information without consent where the sole purpose is to collect statistical information about how its service, or the website through which it is provided, is used in order to improve it, provided the information collected is shared with no one except to help make those improvements, the user gets clear and comprehensive information about the purpose and a simple, free means of objecting, and does not object. The exemption does not cover collecting or monitoring information the device emits automatically; information and the objection route given at the first use suffice for later use for the same purpose.
