UK MoD JSP 936 Dependable AI in Defence Part 1: Directive (V1.1, 2024) 35-36: Account for the level of autonomy and test the military delta of dual-use systems

What does 35-36 require?

Because higher levels of autonomy reduce the scope for human decision-making in the control loop, the organisation takes the system's autonomy level into account when applying the directive. Where a civil-sector robotic or autonomous system containing AI is procured for Defence, the military delta in its Operational Design Domain is identified and the AI tested so that performance drop-offs from the benign designed-for domain are understood and the added risks, notably from adversary action, are identified.
