UK MoD JSP 936 Dependable AI in Defence Part 1: Directive (V1.1, 2024) 13-16: Apply the directive from the outset of capability development, across the whole life cycle and all stakeholders, in proportion to maturity

What does 13-16 require?

The directive's requirements are applied from the earliest point at which AI adoption is identified in Defence capability development, and legacy AI still running or being repurposed is brought into line as far as possible, with tailoring where not. All MOD staff apply it in every phase from pre-concept to disposal or service termination, in particular S&T providers, customers and Senior Responsible Owners, delivery teams, Defence Line of Development owners, trials units, specialist engineering functions, policy makers and end users. How far it is applied scales with how mature the AI is and what kind it is, and documentation is produced and retained under the software policy of the application area.
